New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his tenure of nine years as the Prime Minister of India so far, has not taken a single day of leave from his responsibilities, as revealed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in response to a recent Right to Information (RTI) request. The RTI response also highlights that since assuming office in May 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has actively participated in more than 3,000 official events. The reply to RTI also said that the “Prime Minister is on duty all the time.”
The reply that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not taken any leave was shared widely by netizens. The screenshots of the reply to RTI were shared on X (formerly Twitter). The applicant of the RTI is mentioned as Prafful P. Sarda, and the date of receipt of the RTI application is given as July 31, 2023.
A similar RTI application was filed in December 2015, which also received a response confirming that the Prime Minister had taken no leave during that period. However, the recent response to the RTI inquiry encompasses the entirety of PM Modi’s nine-year prime ministership, underscoring his continuous and uninterrupted service to the nation.
