The primary objective of the National Teachers’ Award is to recognise and celebrate exceptional educators who have elevated the quality of education and positively impacted students’ lives through their unwavering dedication and hard work. This year, 50 school teachers, 13 educators from higher education institutions, and 12 teachers from the Ministry of Development and Entrepreneurship have been bestowed with this esteemed accolade.
Organised annually by the School Education and Literacy Department of the Ministry of Education, this ceremony takes place on Teachers’ Day, which coincides with the birthday of India’s former President, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, celebrated on September 5. It is a day when the nation acknowledges and honours the invaluable contributions of teachers to society.
