New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm welcome to delegations from G20 nations, as well as leaders and representatives from participating nations and international organizations, at the Bharat Mandapam for the G20 summit which gets underway today.
As the delegates arrived at the Bharat Mandapam in the Pragati Maidan area of New Delhi, PM Modi personally greeted them at the entrance, engaging in handshakes and cordial exchanges. The backdrop of the event featured the iconic Konark Wheel from the state of Odisha.
Notable figures such as Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Chief of the World Health Organization, Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, were among the early arrivals at the Bharat Mandapam venue.
Bharat is proudly hosting the G20 Summit, a two-day event, amid prevailing divisions within the group concerning the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Eminent world leaders, including US President JoBiden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japan’s PM Fumio Kishida, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, arrived in the national capital yesterday for the summit.
This year’s G20 Summit, taking place under Bharat’s presidency, carries the theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which translates to “One Earth-One Family-One Future.” This theme draws inspiration from the ancient Sanskrit text of Maha Upanishad and underscores the intrinsic value of all life forms—human, animal, plant, and microorganisms—and their interconnectedness within the realm of planet Earth and the broader universe.
