New Delhi: In a historic moment, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar hoisted the national flag at the new Parliament building on Sunday, a day before the commencement of the Special Session of Parliament. The upcoming Special Session, set to begin on Monday, marks the transition of parliamentary proceedings from the old building to the modern adjacent structure.

Dhankhar conducted the flag hoisting ceremony atop the “Gaja Dwar” of the new Parliament building, with the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adding to the significance of the event.

Describing the occasion as epochal, Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankhar expressed his sentiments, saying, “It is a historic moment. Bharat is witnessing epochal change. The world is in total recognition of the mighty power and contribution of Bharat. We are living in times where we are witnessing development and achievements that we never dreamed of.”

The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Union Ministers V Muraleedharan, Piyush Goyal, and Arjun Ram Meghwal. Congress MPs Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Pramod Tiwari were also present on this significant occasion.

The new Parliament building, constructed adjacent to the existing one, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28.
