Lucknow: In a surprise move, Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh visited Samajwadi Party(SP) leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, reports say.
The visit took place at the residence of Mulayam Singh Yadav in Lucknow. The SP chief told reporters later that the Gathbandan will win majority.
However, the sudden visit will set the political circles on fire as Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) are in a alliance to take on the BJP might in Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam Singh’s son Akhilesh Yadav is now leading the party and is the person who took the decision to form an alliance with its arch rival BSP.
Reports say that Mulayam Singh was upset about his son’s decision to form alliance with his bete noire Mayawati. The veteran SP leader pulled a shocker on the last day of the 16th Lok Sabha session in Parliament when he said that he wished to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi back in power.
It was a huge embarrassment for the opposition benches when one of its tallest leader openly endorsed the Prime Minister.
The relation between Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav is not smooth. Family feuds in the family have led to deep fissures among the members.
The senior SP leader is a master of tactics and surprise moves that could have serious ramification. Political analysts will be now pondering about the significance of Rajnath Singh’s visit at a crucial juncture of the election. The state will go to the polls in the fourth phase of the election in just two days.
At this point it is hard to decipher the exact motivations of the visit. However, the visit is sure to be the talk of political circles in the coming days.
