New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. It has been reported that Jaishankar visited Blinken after his participation in the UN General Assembly in New York and addressed the ongoing diplomatic issue between India and Canada.

Great to meet my friend US Secretary of State @SecBlinken at State Department today.

A wide ranging discussion, following up on PM @narendramodi’s June visit. Also exchanged notes on global developments.

During his visit to the US capital, Jaishankar also had a meeting with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, underscoring the significance of the matter at hand.

Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US State Department, briefed the media on the Jaishankar-Blinken meeting, indicating that details of the discussion cannot be disclosed at this time. Miller emphasized that efforts are underway to resolve the diplomatic tension between India and Canada through peaceful means. He urged India to cooperate in the ongoing investigation and reaffirmed the active engagement of the United States in mediating the dispute between the two nations.

Minister Jaishankar in New York had asked Canada to provide concrete evidence, if available, rather than relying solely on allegations. He emphasized that India has a longstanding tradition of not engaging in unwarranted aggression or invading other countries. Minister Jaishankar called upon Canada to cease making baseless accusations and instead furnish tangible proof to substantiate their claims.
