NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a terrorist named Mohammed Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama. Shahnawaz is one of the four terrorists whose photos were released by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Pune ISIS module case.
Earlier, the NIA had announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh each for information on the four terrorists wanted in connection with the Pune ISIS module case.
Police have stated that the accused, a 27-year-old mining engineer, was in the “advanced planning stage” to carry out a blast in north India. Shahnawaz was identified as the mastermind behind the Pune case. He had previously been arrested by Pune Police but managed to escape to Delhi.
This time, Shahnawaz was detained by the special cell of Delhi Police from a hideout in Delhi.
The NIA has found out that many individuals are involved in the ISIS module in Pune, Maharashtra. Several individuals have been arrested in connection with their active involvement in promoting activities of the terrorist organization ISIS as part of a module based in Pune, Maharashtra.
The NIA conducted raids in connection with the Pune ISIS module case and seized a significant amount of incriminating material, exposing the banned terrorist organization’s conspiracy to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the country.
The NIA also collected suspicious documents from the house of Shamil Saquib, a sleeper cell terrorist, who had been arrested earlier.
