NEW DELHI: Meenakshi Lekhi, the Minister of State for External Affairs, has announced that preparations are underway to repatriate Indian students currently stranded in Israel.
During a press conference, Minister Meenakshi Lekhi stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation in Israel, and discussions are in progress to facilitate the return of Indian students. She also highlighted that the Indian government has previously taken steps to repatriate stranded Indian students in similar situations through initiatives such as Operation Ganga and Operation Vande Bharat.
Prime Minister and his office are monitoring the situation and huge efforts are underway to get back our students who are stuck in that country,” Meenakshi Lekhi told reporters
The Minister noted that such measures have been initiated in response to the recent attack by Palestine on Israel.
The Indian Embassy has extended its full support and assistance to Indian citizens in both Israel and Palestine. Both the Indian Embassy and the Central Government have advised Indian students to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution.
Meanwhile, regular Air India services have been suspended due to the ongoing conflict, a decision made based on security concerns. However, the central government has convened meetings to closely monitor the situation and take action to bring back Indian students if necessary.
