Kolkata: In a show of strength challenging the dictatorial rule of West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, BJP President Amit Shah is leading a huge rally in the capital city of Kolkata.
Kolkata turned saffron as the huge rally slowly trudged along the road in the capital city. BJP activists shouted “Jai Shri Ram” and many dressed up as Lord Ram, Sita, and Hanuman and paraded on the roads of Kolkata signaling the rise of Hindutva under the very nose of Mamata Banerjee.
However, Trinamool Congress (TMC) has unleashed violence against the BJP President’s rally and even sticks were thrown at his truck which was specially decorated for the occasion. Reports say that clashes have broken out between BJP and TMC workers. The police have begun to bring the situation under control.
Speaking to ANI, Amit Shah said, “The way people of West Bengal have come out today, it shows that the day is not far when the change will happen.”
The massive support for BJP and the huge participation of the common people in the rally has not gone down well with the TMC supremo. BJP General Secretary, Kailash Vijayavargiya said that TMC goons and the police removed BJP flags and posters before the road show began. They miscreants ran away as BJP activists rushed to the spot.
Mamata Banerjee has unleashed a wave of violence against anyone who disagrees with her. Yesterday a woman BJP leader, Priyanka Sharma, was jailed just for sharing a meme critical of Mamata Banerjee.
Over the months many BJP workers have been brutally killed by TMC workers. The erstwhile CPI(M) workers are hunted down by TMC since they lost the state to Mamata Banerjee. Many communist activists are now turning to the BJP for protection and a chance to live in their own land.
Mamata Banerjee has taken a high decibel attack against the Prime Minister fearing a major threat to her power from the BJP. She has tried time and again to project herself as the next Prime Ministerial candidate. However, her outbursts and high handedness in dealing with political opponents have made her unpopular with a huge population in the State.
Last week she arrested a few men who chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ while she was passing by. The BJP has taken up the issue fervently with Narendra Modi challenging Mamata Banerjee to arrest him for chanting the holy name.
Amit Shah too confronted the Chief Minister and raised ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans and thousands of BJP workers chanted Lord Ram’s name in response.
