NAGPUR: The annual ‘Vijayadashmi Utsav’ event of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) commenced with the RSS volunteers’ ‘Path Sanchalan’ (route march) in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on this morning, October 24. The ceremonial Dussehra event was graced by singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan, who served as the Chief Guest of the function.
Following this, the RSS Sarsanghchalak, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, paid tribute to the organisation’s founder, KB Hedgewar. Musician Shankar Mahadevan also offered floral tributes at the statue of KB Hedgewar. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were also in attendance.
Shankar Mahadevan began his address with a prayer song to Goddess Saraswati for the glory of the nation and conveyed his Vijayadashami wishes to the entire world. He emphasized, “It is my duty to educate youngsters through music.”
During his speech, Shankar Mahadevan extended his greetings to everyone on the occasion of Vijayadashmi and expressed his gratitude to the RSS chief for inviting him as the Chief Guest of the event. He also praised the volunteer services of RSS members during various crisis situations, including their contributions to disaster management and more.
