Delhi: RSS members on October 22, Sunday, conducted a “Pathsanchalan” (route march) within the premises of JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) and held a meeting inside the campus. This marked two ‘firsts’ (march and meeting) in the organization’s history, reflecting its efforts to extend its influence in an institution traditionally associated with left-leaning ideologies.
Nearly 200 cadres in the RSS uniform with saffron flags and sticks, held the march from the main gate to the university’s administrative block. JNU students who are also members of RSS student arm ABVP participated in the march.
The RSS cadres held the meeting near the administrative block and sang “Jago toh ekbar Hindu jago toh (Wake up Hindus)” while they were seated there.
The left student organization is seeking clarification from the JNU administration regarding the RSS volunteers’ procession.
It is worth mentioning that the JNU students’ union and teachers’ association have so far been dominated by Left-leaning groups.
