New Delhi: BJP struck back at Rahul Gandhi’s advice to his MPs that they must be more aggressive in Parliament. BJP leader, Shahnawaz Hussain, said that it means that Congress wants to stall the Parliament. He added that if they continue to do so, then the party would not be able to muster 5 seats in the next Lok Sabha elections.
Shahnawaz Hussain said, “For Rahul Gandhi, fighting against BJP is to stop Parliament to function and abuse the Prime Minister and raise questions over the valour of the Army.”
He added that if they continue to stall the parliament proceedings it will be difficult to get even five of their candidates elected to Lok Sabha in 2024.
BJP leader from Maharashtra, Madhav Bhandari, supporting Hussain’s statement said that Congress’ debacle in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections is fallout of what the party did in parliament in the last five years.
He said, “The public has seen what the Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have done in the parliament in the last five years. “
The leaders were responding to Rahul Gandhi’s call to his 50 MPs to become more aggressive in the coming parliament sessions.
Rahul Gandhi said, “You are going to enjoy yourself, you are going to shout a little more than usual. You are going to be a little more aggressive. “
In a bid to picture the Narendra Modi government as undemocratic, the Congress scion also said that no institution in the country will support the MPs and he compared the present situation to British India when the party faced the foreign power with no help from institutions.
Narendra Modi led BJP and its allies were elected to power with overwhelming support from the people in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. The NDA secured over 350 seats and the new cabinet was sworn in on 30 May.
The Congress faced its second humiliating defeat securing only 52 seats, not even the minimum number to claim the leader of opposition position in the Parliament.
