New Delhi: India’s super spy, Ajith Doval, will continue his innings as National Security Advisor (NSA). Government has extended his tenure as NSA for five more years and also gave him the cabinet rank in lieu of his contribution to the national security of the country.
It is for the first time that a NSA is given a cabinet rank.
The government, including the Prime Minister continues to have strong confidence in the 1968-batch IPS officer in tackling the security concerns of the country. He was appointed the NSA in May 2014.
Ajith Doval was instrumental in carrying out the surgical strikes in Myanmar and Pakistan in September, 2016. He is also behind the successful planning of the Balakot strikes that destroyed the largest camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad camp in Pakistan following the Pulwama attack.
He was appointed as Special Representative of the Government of India to negotiate the boundary dispute with China. He along with present Foreign Minister, S. Jayashankar, is credited with solving the Doklam stand-off between India and China.
Ajith Doval is now considered one of the most successful NSA. Together with the Prime Minister, he has helped change India’s foreign policy drastically. The country has adopted a more aggressive posture when it comes to national security and has opened up new avenues for diplomacy in the wider global community.
