NEW DELHI: BJP leader and member of the National Commission for Women (NCW), Kushboo Sundar, strongly criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his anti-woman remarks.
Kushboo described Nitish Kumar’s comments as insulting and frightening. She expressed her astonishment that individuals with such views hold positions in our legislative assembly. Kushboo made these statements in Delhi in response to Nitish Kumar’s anti-woman remarks.
Kushboo questioned why Mamata Banerjee, Sonia, and Priyanka have not responded to Nitish Kumar’s derogatory remarks about women and have not condemned his statements. Their silence raises concerns about the INDI Alliance’s stance on women’s issues, according to Kushboo.
Citing Nitish Kumar’s offensive remarks, Kushboo called on the women leaders of the INDI Alliance to demand Nitish’s resignation.
Yesterday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made highly derogatory remarks in the Bihar legislative assembly. He made these comments while discussing about the Census. Nitish suggested that women were responsible for the country’s uncontrolled population growth. He also said that women should be educated to control population growth and should learn to manage themselves to have sex without getting pregnant. Nitish further suggested that women should be taught how to restrain their husbands to control birth rates.
Nitish Kumar repeated the statement during his speech in the Legislative Council also.
Kushboo immediately criticised his remarks on social media X, calling them “absolutely disgraceful, unacceptable, gross, and cheap.”
The BJP quickly condemned Kumar’s remarks as “the most misogynistic, vulgar, and patriarchal” and demanded his resignation.
The BJP has strongly hammered Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a former ally, for his “vulgar” and “shameful” comments about the role of women’s education in population control. Protests against Nitish Kumar have erupted across the country, with demonstrators holding placards and effigies of the Chief Minister.
BJP demanded Nitish’s resignation rather than a mere apology. The BJP leaders have also urged the Bihar speaker to take immediate action regarding his misogynistic remarks about women.
