New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today constituted two high power committees to tackle the economic downturn in the country and to spur the growth, investment, and employment.
The Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth includes the Home Minister, Amith Shah, Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, Road and Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, and Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal.
The Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development consists of 10 members which include, Amith Shah, Niramala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Narendra Singh Tomar, Ramesh Pokhriyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Santhosh Kumar Gangwar and Hardeep Singh Puri
The economy of India has entered a slowdown in the last quarter to 5.8%. The GDP for the last financial year has been 6.8%, slightly lower than the target of 7.2%. The country’s growth is still the fastest growing economy in Asia.
The Prime Minister’s decision to constitute these high-level committees is a strong message that the government is determined to focus on improving the economy and to spur the growth and investment in the country.
