Bengaluru: Veteran actor and playwright Girish Karnad died in Bengaluru this morning. He was 81. Girish Karnad breathed his last at his residence.
Girish Karnad was the famous playwright,film director,actor,poet as well as television anchor. Jnanpith award winning playwright was also conferred with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the nation. He has also won four Film fare awards.
His writings had been translated to various languages.He had acted in Malayalam movies ‘Neelakkurinji’ and ‘Prince’.Girish Karnad is survived by his wife Saraswathi, son and daughter. The last rites of Girish Karnad will be held in Kalpali crematorium in Bengaluru later today.
