Blame it on Congress: CPI(M) Central Committee puts the blame of BJP victory and the party’s failure on Congress

New Delhi: The CPI(M) Central Committee, today, brought out a report which explains the reasons for their dismal performance and the dashing success of the BJP at the recent Lok Sabha election. Interestingly, the report has blamed the Congress for the poll debacle of the opposition. The communist party which could have used the opportunity for introspection and corrections has simply saved the effort by putting the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Congress.

The main accusation against the Congress is that the grand old party was not interested to form alliance which could have stopped the BJP onslaught. The Congress did not make any effort to form alliances with secular and democratic parties of the country. The sole reason for Congress wins in Tamil Nadu was because they had formed an alliance with the DMK.

The CPI(M) report says that even though the party wanted an alliance in West Bengal and was looking forward for a mutual cooperation with Congress. They had even contacted the Congress leadership for stitching up an alliance, but the grand old party did not extend its hand for an alliance.

This led to the rise of BJP as an alternative to the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.

The Communist party also tried to form alliances with RJD in Bihar and the NCP in Maharashtra. However, the CPI(M)’s prospects were thwarted when these parties did not take interest to form an alliance with the communist party.

The report also suggested that the Sabarimala issue had eroded the party’s traditional votes and was shifted to the BJP and the Congress.
