New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged victorious in three out of four states in the assembly elections, solidifying its dominance. The states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh witnessed the BJP securing an overwhelming lead beyond the absolute majority threshold. Meanwhile, the party has also made significant strides in Telangana.
In Rajasthan, where 100 seats are needed for an absolute majority, the BJP is surging ahead with 112 seats, while the Congress lags behind with a lead of only 71 seats. Sixteen other seats, including independents and smaller parties, are also leaning towards various candidates. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has defied exit polls, taking the lead in 161 seats, while the Congress is leading in only 66 seats.
Chhattisgarh witnessed an unexpected breakthrough for the BJP, with the party leading in seats despite an initial advance by the Congress in the first phase of counting. The BJP is ahead, while the Congress is leading by only 33 seats, marking a significant turnaround from the predictions of exit polls.
In Telangana, strong anti-BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) sentiment appears to have favoured the Congress, with the party leading in 65 seats. BRS, on the other hand, is trailing with a lead in 40 seats, and the BJP is making progress with leads in 9 seats.
