New Delhi: If losing Lok Sabha election with a humiliating defeat is embarrassing for Rahul Gandhi, then how can one explain the feeling of the Gandhi scion when he realized that his own advisors were duping him?
The ‘Sunday Guardian’ has reported that the core team of Rahul Gandhi misled the Congress President by claiming that the party will win 164 to 184 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. His top aides Praveen Chakravarty and Divya Spandana had charged the party huge sums of money for providing their services in data collection, analysis and the party’s presence on the social media.
Surprisingly, both the top aides are not available for communication since the results came out.
Reports say that Rahul Gandhi, believing Praveen Chakravarty’s prediction of winning, had even called up his UPA allies namely Stalin, Akhilesh Yadav, Omar Abdullah, Sharad Pawar etc. and discussed the Cabinet berths that they would be offered.
The Congress leader was so duped into believing that the grand old party would score a comfortable seats in the Parliament that the party made huge preparations for a victory celebration in front of the AICC office in Delhi. Around 10,000 Congress workers got ready to participate in the grand celebrations.
A press conference was also planned on the day of the counting. Priyanka Gandhi had even asked Chief Ministers of Congress ruled states to sent their list of leaders who they wanted to be inducted into the Ministry.
Praveen Chakravarty was one of the close aides of Rahul Gandhi and he was responsible for providing the ground data to the Congress party. He introduced the Shakti app with which the workers could communicate with the President. He was also responsible for running the app to give a reach for Rahul Gandhi in the elections.
What makes the whole affair more humiliating is that Praveen Chakravarty had charged the Congress party Rs. 24 crore. Divya Spandana had charge Rs. 8 crore for her social media services. It is reported that Praveen Chakravarty has not still given his pre election data for which he had charged the party such a huge amount.
Interestingly, Divya Spandana had deleted both her Twitter and Instagram accounts just after the results came out.
Gandhi trusted Praveen Chakravarty’s claim of 164 -184 seats at face value and took decisions accordingly. Even Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were also duped into believing the unreasonable predictions.
It seems that even senior party leaders had taken the Gandhi family for a ride. Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh also gave exaggerated numbers of wins that the Congress party would get in their States.
