London: The much awaited match between India and Pakistan became a one sided affair after India delivered blow after blow to the green shirts and went on to win by 89 runs. The Pakistani defeat began the moment Pakistani Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and decided to bowl.

The Indian innings began with a wonderful partnership of Rohit and Rahul which took India to 136 runs. Rohit went on to hit his second century in this World Cup.

Virat Kohli scored an impressive 77 runs from just 65 balls. Pandya and Vijay Shankar both scored impressively taking the total runs for India to 336 with 5 wickets in hand.

The Pakistani innings began with a disaster as Vijay Shankar bowled out Imam at the first ball of the innings. Though the partnership of Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam tried to salvage the situation, Kuldeep made it sure to sent both the batters to the pavilion in quick succession.

This was followed by Hardik’s dismissal of Hafeez and Malik in successive balls bringing the game under the control of India. Rains began to play spoil sport and the number of overs were reduced to 40 with a target of 302. The Pakistanis needed to score 136 runs in 60 balls which was impossible. India’s victory was sealed by then and the rest of the game just went on as a ritual.

Interestingly, India has won all the games played against Pakistan in the World Cup.
