NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that the assembly election results demonstrate the irrelevance of anti-incumbency sentiments in the presence of good governance. Modi referred to the results as “very encouraging” during his interaction with the media preceding the Winter Session of Parliament.
Highlighting the importance of commitment to people’s welfare, the PM stated, “When there is a dedication to public welfare, the term ‘anti-incumbency’ becomes inconsequential.”
Modi expressed hope for a constructive discussion in Parliament and called for the Opposition’s support toward that end. He described this as a “golden opportunity for Opposition parties to contribute constructively,” emphasizing that their nine years of negativity hadn’t yielded results, as evidenced by the recent election outcomes. He urged them to embrace this chance for “change.”
Emphasizing the public’s trust in the BJP reflected in the recent election results, Modi portrayed it as a significant indicator of the party’s forthcoming breakthrough in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Further, PM Modi stressed the necessity of the Opposition’s support for constructive discussions and healthy debates crucial for the sustainable development of the country. He reminded that democracy mandates the Opposition to be as competent as the ruling party.
