Coimbatore: A copy of the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Coimbatore police reveals shocking details of the plan by the three Islamic State (ISIS) suspects who were nabbed by Tamil Nadu police last week. The suspects were planning to strike temples and churches which if executed could have led to devastating consequences across the nation.
The Coimbatore police also submitted a special report on the matter which shows that the ISIS module were in the process of recruiting new recruits for the dreaded organization. They were also translating ISIS propaganda from Arabic to Tamil to reach a wider audience in the State.
The three arrested members of the ISIS module are identified as Mohammad Hussain, Shajahan, and Safiullah. Mohammad Hussain is considered the mastermind of the ISIS module. All the suspects were arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after a raid at seven locations in Coimbatore.
All the arrested suspects were active supporters of Zahran Hashim, the mastermind of the Sri Lankan Easter day bombings. Mohammad Husssain was a Facebook friend of Zahran and he headed the module to spread the ISIS propaganda on social media.
NIA had confiscated many mobile phones, pen drives, laptops, memory cards, CDs, DVDs, etc. Even daggers and air gun pellets were found in the raid.
Pamphlets of Popular Front of India and its political arm, SDPI, were also recovered during the raids.
