NEW DELHI: In another significant development, Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar will not attend the I.N.D.I Alliance meeting organized by the Congress party in Delhi on December 6. This decision follows Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s announcement that she also won’t be present at the same meeting scheduled by the Congress party.
The INDI Alliance meeting is set to take place tomorrow at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi. It remains unclear why Nitish Kumar won’t be participating in this meeting, especially following the Congress party’s poor performance in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
Initially, Mamata claimed she hadn’t received an invitation for the meeting. Later, she said that her absence was due to prior commitments in Bengal.
It is expected that the meeting scheduled for tomorrow has been called to discuss seat sharing ahead of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Simultaneously, JD(U) party secretary Nikhil Mandal has advocated for Nitish Kumar to lead the INDI Alliance, citing the Congress’s inadequate performance in recent assembly elections.
Moreover, Akhilesh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party, accused the Congress of betrayal, accused that the Congress party didn’t allocate tickets for potential collaboration in Madhya Pradesh during the assembly elections. Akhilesh Yadav, who has clashed with the Congress multiple times in recent months, criticized his ally for unsuccessful seat-sharing discussions in the Madhya Pradesh assembly election.
However, the Congress might encounter several challenges during this meeting.
