Vishakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, ordered the demolition of a Rs. 8 crore building that was built next to the former Chief Minister, Chandra Babu Naidu’s residence. The demolition of the building called ‘Praja Vedika’ will begin on Tuesday.
The building was used by Chandra Babu Naidu for government meetings and also party programs. However, after Chandra Babu Naidu was ousted from power following the state elections, he had written to the new Chief Minister concerning the building.
Naidu requested that the building be allocated to him in the capacity of the Opposition Leader. He wanted the building to stay as an annexure to the residence of the opposition leader.
However, the government did not relent and decided to go forward. The response of the government was that it was a normal procedure and that this government was committed to the law. The government also said that it would demolish any structure that is constructed illegally.
The TDP says that the move by the government is nothing more than vendetta politics. The party also accused the government for destroying many things in the building.
Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress won the recent Assembly elections with 151 seats in a house of 175 member. The TDP also was completed routed out in the Parliament election with only 3 seats while YSR Congress won the rest 22 seats in the State.
