New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong attack against the Congress and the opposition in the Rajya Sabha during his reply to the ‘Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address’. He said that Congress’s arrogance is what makes them say that when BJP won the country has lost.
He said that he was saddened when some leaders say that the BJP and allies won the elections but the country and democracy lost. He said that these statements are unfortunate and asked why they question the decision of the voters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Did India lose in Wayanad? Did India lose in Rae Bareli? Did India lose in Trivandrum, what about Amethi? What kind of argument is this? If Congress loses then does that mean India lost? There is a limit to arrogance. Congress could not win a single seat in 17 states.”
On the issue of the opposition of EVMs, Narendra Modi hit back at Congress by saying, “Some people kept raising the EVM issue in this House. I want to tell them there was a time when we had just 2 MPs in Parliament. People made fun of us. But, we worked harder and won the trust of people. We did not make excuses and blame polling booth.”
He also said that the Congress had insulted the farmers by saying that they had sold themselves for Rs. 2000. He also further said that the Congress abused the media by claiming that BJP won because of the help of media. He asked if this logic worked in Kerala and Tamil Nadu where UPA won majority of the seats.
On the issue of a lynching incident in Jharkhand, the Prime Minister said that the incident had pained him but asked everyone not to insult the whole state of Jharkhand for the incident.
Narendra Modi said, “Some people in the Rajya Sabha are calling Jharkhand a hub of lynching. Is this fair? Why are they insulting a state? None of us have the right to insult the state of Jharkhand.”
