New Delhi: Indian labourers numbering 150 and including Kerlaties are said to be trapped in a oil field in Kazakhstan after a brawl with the locals. Minister of State (MoS), V. Muraleedharan said that efforts are on to bring back the Indian workers trapped there. The Indian Embassy in Kazakhstan has been alerted.
Reports say that the labourers got trapped at Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan after a fighting began between foreign workers yesterday. The report says that the fighting began after a foreign worker uploaded a picture which made fun of the locals.
It seems that the locals were irked with Jordanian and Lebanese workers. Indian workers might have been caught between the brawl.
The Indian authorities jumped to operational mode after the workers informed the foreign ministry about their plight.
Meanwhile, the Indian Ambassador in Kazakhstan has given out a helpline number for relatives of the workers back home for further details. The number is +77012207601.
