New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has imposed a ban on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). This legal action is a response to the organisation’s separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is engaging in anti-Bharat propaganda and terrorist activities with the aim of detaching Kashmir from Bharat. This separatist organisation, operating in Jammu and Kashmir, has faced the ban due to its activities for the separation of Kashmir from Bharat and the establishment of an independent state, along with the implementation of Islamic law.
Amit Shah stated that the ban is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of zero tolerance for terrorist activities and anti-Bharat sentiments. Any individual or organisation found to be working against the country will be stopped.
