New Delhi: Ahead of the 75th Republic Day, the army has strengthened security in the border areas of the country. As part of the security measures, snipers have been deployed in Kashmir’s Bandipore, and night patrolling has been intensified.
Officials also mentioned that 24-hour surveillance CCTV is being carried out in the border areas using surveillance cameras. Security has been beefed up in New Delhi and all capital cities as part of the Republic Day celebrations. Special teams have been deployed at the checkpoints for vehicle inspections.
It is also reported that drones will be used for monitoring highways in various parts of the country. Major General Sumit Mehta informed that the Republic Day parade is scheduled to start at 10:30 am on January 26, 2024 from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path, New Delhi. The parade commander will be Delhi Area Commander Lt. General Bhavnish Kumar, he added.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries will participate in the Republic Day Parade. There will be seating for around 77,000 audience at the venue. For the first time this year, an all-women tri-services contingent will be part of the event, according to officials.
French President Emmanuel Macron has been invited as the Chief Guest to attend this year’s Republic Day parade.
