New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 76th death anniversary at Rajghat in Delhi on Tuesday. In a post on “X,” PM Modi said, “I pay homage to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi.”
Expressing respect for all those who sacrificed their lives for the nation, the Prime Minister added, “Their sacrifices inspire us to serve the people and fulfil their vision for our nation.”
Joining PM Modi were other dignitaries, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also noted in “X,” saluting Mahatma Gandhi for awakening the spirit of Swadeshi through truth and non-violence. He emphasised the relevance of Gandhi’s messages of peace and harmony in today’s context, with his thoughts continuing to inspire sacrifice and dedication to the nation.
BJP National President JP Nadda echoed similar sentiments, stating that the paths shown by Mahatma Gandhi remain relevant in every era. “I pay my tribute to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the priest of truth and non-violence, who paved the way for India’s independence through Swadeshi and self-reliance,” Nadda remarked.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in his message, expressed gratitude for his contributions. He also extended tribute to all those who laid down their lives in service to the nation on this significant day.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak marked the occasion in Lucknow by offering floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
Bharat observes Martyrs’ Day every year on January 30 to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, honouring his significant contributions to the country’s freedom.
