New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched widespread protests and criticism against Congress MP and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Sivakumar’s brother, DK Suresh, for his controversial remarks advocating a “separate nation.” The BJP, expressing its discontent, has taken the matter to court, with Vikas P, a BJP leader from Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada, filing a private petition against DK Suresh.
DK Suresh asserted on Thursday that taxes collected from southern states were unfairly distributed to the north, suggesting that if this perceived injustice persisted, southern states might be compelled to seek a “separate nation”. He also criticized the imposition of Hindi on the southern states across various domains.
“Our tax money is being distributed to north India, if we do not condemn it, there might arise a situation where we will have to demand for a separate nation,” he said.
BJP leaders from various states, including Delhi State President Virendra Sachdeva, Jharkhand State President Babulal Marandi, Punjab State President Anil Sarin, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and Keshav Prasad Maurya, have expressed their opposition to DK Suresh’s remarks. They believe his comments are aimed to divide Bharat.
Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad strongly criticized the Congress national leadership, singling out Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and their INDI Alliance for maintaining a ‘conspicuous silence’ over what he deemed ‘shameful’ and ‘unconstitutional’ comments by DK Suresh.
