New Delhi: In an effort to reduce the burden of rising rice prices on the common man, the central government has launched ‘Bharat Rice,’ a new rice brand . Priced at Rs 29 per kilogram, this initiative launched today, aims to provide affordable and quality rice to consumers.
The distribution of ‘Bharat Rice’ will be facilitated through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED), the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Ltd. (NCCF), and Kendriya Bhandar retail outlets. Additionally, the rice will be made available for purchase on various e-commerce platforms. Consumers can purchase ‘Bharat Rice’ in 5 kg and 10 kg packs.
The introduction of ‘Bharat Rice’ comes in response to the surge in rice prices across the country. The average retail price of rice in Bharat currently stands at Rs 43.3 per kg, reflecting a 14.1 percent increase from the previous year. This initiative follows the launch of ‘Bharat Atta’ in November by the central government, priced at Rs 27.50 per kg.
