Panaji: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Goa as part of a one-day visit to inaugurate the ‘India Energy Week 2024’ conference and also unveil ONGC’s ‘Sea Survival Centre’ in Goa. PM Modi is scheduled to launch several other projects in the state. Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai also accompanied PM Modi during the programme.

The primary objective of the Sea Survival Center is to provide training for survival in case of any adverse event at sea. Exercises in simulated and controlled harsh weather conditions will enhance the Sea Survival skills of trainees and potentially increase the chances of safe escape from real-life disasters. The center is expected to train 10,000-15,000 personnel annually.

This inauguration occurred after the opening of the India Energy Week 2024 conference in Panaji, Goa, scheduled from 6th January to 9th January. It is reported that PM Modi will hold a roundtable discussion with global oil and gas company CEOs and experts at the conference. Ministers from several countries will also participate in the program.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of projects worth Rs 1,330 crore at a public event in Goa. He will also inaugurate the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology Goa and participate in the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 program.
