New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP ST Hasan said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is against the principles of the Quran. Hasan’s statement came after Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami introduced the Unified Civil Code Bill in the Assembly.
“We will not comply with the Uniform Civil Code Bill if it goes against the ‘Hidayat’ (instructions) given to Muslims in the Quran. If it is according to ‘Hidayat’ we have no problem,” said ST Hasan.
Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali, the youngest executive member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board said that the board will come up with a decision on UCC after their leagal team study on the matter.
“Will there be uniformity in all existing laws when the Uniform Civil Code comes? No, there won’t be. How can there be uniformity when you exclude some communities from it? Our legal team will study. It will be decided accordingly,” said Maulana Khalid Rasheed.
