New Delhi: The ongoing World Defence Show (WDS) 2024 in Riyadh witnessed the participation of women from the Indian Armed Forces. Their representation underscores the Indian government’s commitment to harnessing Nari Shakti (women’s power) across military domains.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence, Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth, Colonel Ponung Doming, and Lieutenant Commander Annu Prakash represented Bharat in various seminars at the WDS 2024, particularly focusing on events themed around International Women in Defence.
Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth, a fighter pilot from the Indian Air Force, assumed a prominent role as a panellist in a seminar titled ‘International Women in Defence: Investing in an Inclusive Future’. Hosted by Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar Al-Saud, the seminar showcased Squadron Leader Kanth’s expertise and leadership in the defence sector.
The WDS 2024, inaugurated on February 4, is set to conclude on February 8, serving as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge defence technologies and fostering international cooperation in the defence industry. As part of the Indian delegation, Union Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt, visited Riyadh to participate in the event.
