New Delhi: Congress leader and former President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter, Sharmistha Mukherjee, lashed out at Congress party members and Rahul Gandhi.
Sharmistha Mukherjee, wrote a letter to Rahul Gandhi demanding that Congress party members should stop abusing her and her father. She also shared a copy of the two-page letter on social media. In her letter, Sharmistha Mukherjee mentioned that Congress supporters have used abusive language against her and her father, Pranab Mukherjee.
In her open letter to Rahul Gandhi, Sharmistha Mukherjee demanded ‘Nyay’ (Justice) from Congress members who are character-assassinating her and her father Pranab Mukherjee.
Sharmistha Mukherjee wrote, “They abused my father, Pranab Mukherjee, and me in such vile language, terms I feel nauseated even to repeat.”
She mentioned that such character assassination would not be acceptable. In the letter, she detailed that the ‘nasty comments’ against her and father, were brought to the notice of senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and Congress party’s National Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate. However, no action was taken so far.
In the letter, Sharmistha Mukherjee mentioned that Rahul Gandhi talks about ‘Nyay’ (Justice) in his public speeches. But, as a woman and daughter of Pranab Mukherjee, who has been sexually harassed through social media, she demanded justice from the Congress party.
Sharmistha Mukherjee added that ‘Naveen Shahi’, a Congress party member, harassed her in a very worst manner. She demanded action against Naveen Shahi and Congress party social media administrators for making abusive remarks. Sharmistha Mukherjee also added that this proved that Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is just a namesake for ‘Nyay’ (justice) and is merely an election campaign slogan.
She shared screenshots of the abusive remarks made about her and Pranab Mukherjee through social media. She tagged the screenshots to senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and Congress party’s National Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, seeking justice.
Sharmistha Mukherjee mentioned that the remarks were made by Rahul Gandhi’s supporters and she feels ashamed for dragging the Congress party to this level. Sharmistha Mukherjee mentioned that ever since her book titled ‘PRANAB, MY FATHER: A Daughter Remembers,’ based on Pranab Mukherjee’s diary entries, was published, Congress social media and some Congress leaders have been speaking against it. ‘Congress social media has been viciously trolling me,’ she said. Sharmistha Mukherjee wanted Congress party leaders to answer her questions as only a bunch of vulgar trolls are left in the Congress party who are so abusive when anyone criticizes Rahul Gandhi.
In her book, Sharmistha mentioned that her father, Pranab Mukherjee, remarked that ‘Rahul is very polite, but he was yet to mature politically.’ She also noted that Pranab Mukherjee advised Rahul during their meetings at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Pranab Mukherjee advised Rahul to join the cabinet to acquire extensive political knowledge. However, Rahul never followed Pranab’s advice.
