Lucknow: Trinamool Congress leader Siddiqullah Chowdhury threatened Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the Varanasi court verdict that permitted Hindu believers to pray in Gyanvapi. Siddiqullah Chowdhury and a group of his supporters protested and raised slogans against Yogi Adityanath, stating that if he comes to Bengal, they will attack him. He also threatened Hindu worshippers, saying that they would not allow them to enter Gyanvapi.
The TMC leader made these remarks while attending a Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind protest rally in Kolkata. He also demanded a ban on Hindu worship at Gyanvapi.
On January 31, 2024, the Varanasi Court permitted Hindu worshippers to offer prayers at Gyanvapi as they did prior to 1993.
Following this court order, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind protested, demanding the cessation of Hindu worship. Many people were injured in the protest attacks, and the police filed cases against those inciting riots.
