Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated Sudarshan Setu, the nation’s longest cable-stayed bridge, spanning approximately 2.32 kilometers. This bridge connects the Okha mainland with Beyt Dwarka island in Gujarat. Formerly known as the ‘Signature Bridge’, it has been officially renamed ‘Sudarshan Setu’ or Sudarshan Bridge.
Beyt Dwarka, located near the Okha port and about 30 km from Dwarka town, holds historical importance as the site of the revered Dwarkadhish temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. ‘Sudarshan Setu’ now stands as a pivotal link between the Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka, facilitating transportation and connectivity in the region.
Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during the bridge’s inauguration. Following the inauguration, PM Modi is scheduled to visit the Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for various development projects valued at Rs 4,150 crore.
