Gandhinagar: The Indian Navy, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has apprehended a suspicious boat carrying nearly 3,300 kg of contraband off the coast of Gujarat. The narcotics, with an estimated value exceeding Rs 2000 crore in the global market, were intended to be smuggled from Pakistan through the Gujarat port into Bharat.The Indian Navy stated that this seizure marks the largest in recent times in terms of quantity.
The interception took place near the International Maritime Boundary Line off the Gujarat coast in the Arabian Sea. Among the items seized were 3089 kg of charas, 158 kg of methamphetamine, and 25 kg of morphine. The interception was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Indian Navy’s mission-deployed assets and the Narcotics Control Bureau, with the Indian Navy’s mission-deployed ship being redirected based on intelligence provided by the P8I LRMR aircraft during surveillance.
The apprehended boat, along with the contraband and crew, suspected to be of Pakistani origin, were handed over to law enforcement agencies at an Indian port on February 27.
