New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Naveen Patnaik has decided to rejoin the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Senior leaders have confirmed the reports, indicating a strategic deal between BJD and the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha. While an official announcement is awaited, sources suggest it will be made soon. This marks BJD’s return to the NDA after 15 years.
The decision was reached after extensive discussions held at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence, with BJP national leaders also participating in the deliberations. BJD Vice President and MLA Debi Prasad Mishra confirmed the talks, emphasizing that the decision was made with the paramount interest of the people of Odisha in mind.
Debi Prasad Mishra highlighted the significant progress achieved by Odisha under Naveen Patnaik’s leadership and reiterated that the Biju Janata Dal prioritizes the welfare of Odisha’s populace . He further disclosed that a meeting, chaired by the BJD president, assessed strategies and preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
