New Delhi: Amid speculation of TDP’s potential inclusion in the BJP-led NDA, Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief of TDP, met with BJP leaders in Delhi. During his visit, Naidu held discussions with BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Reports suggest that the discussions revolved around the prospect of TDP’s re-entry into the NDA fold.
In Andhra Pradesh, NDA ally Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP) had already sealed an agreement with TDP, suggesting a unified front for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Pawan Kalyan’s indication of joint contesting further solidified the prospects of collaboration between the two parties. With Naidu’s visit to Delhi and talks with BJP leaders, an official announcement regarding TDP’s re-entry into the NDA is anticipated soon.
TDP, formerly a part of the NDA, withdrew from the alliance in 2018, subsequently joining the ‘Praja Kutami’ coalition alongside Congress, CPI, and TJS. However, after facing consecutive setbacks, TDP distanced itself from this alliance. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, TDP’s performance was subdued, securing only three out of 25 seats. Similarly, Jana Sena Party, contesting alone in 18 seats, failed to make significant gains. With the NDA undergoing reorganization in Andhra Pradesh, the BJP anticipates a substantial surge in the state’s political landscape.
