The NDA government at the Center has been actively countering the menace of Naxalism for the last five years. With many areas of the country under the control of these communist terrorists, it is hard for the government to deliver development to those regions. The Naxals have been for years asking the local population to desist from taking part in the democratic process.
Their main objective is to wage war against the Indian state and bring about a communist revolution through violent means. Thousands have died over the years, mostly innocent villagers caught in the middle of the war.
