New Delhi: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unit in Delhi University (DU) has decided to conduct a protest against SFI for torturing Siddharth, a veterinary student at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Wayanad, Kerala. Siddharth was found handing at the university hostel bathroom on February 18. The demonstration is aptly titled ‘SFI Stop Killing Students’.
The ABVP’s Delhi University unit leaders announced that at the event, the effigy of SFI will be burned to protest against the communist student organization’s brutality against other students. The demonstration will be held today at 5pm near the Swami Vivekananda Statue, Arts Faculty at Delhi University.
Several SFI leaders, who were behind the brutal torture of the second year student, Siddharth, have been arrested since then. The dean and the warden of the hostel tried to favour the SFI leaders who were responsible for Siddharth’s death.
Siddharth was subjected to a mob trail, where he was stripped naked and beaten with iron rods, belt and wires. It is said that the SFI leaders were not happy with Siddharth for dancing with female senior students during a Valentine’s Day celebration. ABVP Kerala unit had led the protests in the state to force the government to handover the investigation to the CBI and to arrest the SFI leaders and those behind the death of the student. Fortunately, the state government had to concede to the demands put forward by ABVP.
ABVP DU unit President, Navaneet and Soumya invited students to join the protest against the SFI’s brutality towards other students on campuses.
