New Delhi: In his second ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address after assuming office for the second time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the successful launch of the Chandrayaan-2. He also touched upon Kashmir and other topics during his Sunday address to the people of India.

While speaking about Chandrayaan-2, the Prime Minister said, “Chandrayaan-2 is Indian to the core. It is thoroughly Indian in heart and spirit. It is completely swadeshi, homegrown mission.” He lauded the scientists behind the launch and congratulated their success even after initial setback.

“We should never lose hope in the face of stumbling blocks or obstacles.”

He also said that he learnt about faith and fearlessness from the mission. Modi said that we must trust our talents and capacities.

Modi also said that everyone is waiting for September when Lander Vikram and Rover Pragyan will land on the moon’s surface.

He added that he fervently hope that Chandrayaan-2 mission will inspire India’s youth towards Science and Innovation and science is a path towards development.

The Prime Minister also touched upon the issue of Kashmir and stressed that the people of Kashmir believe that development is more powerful than violence and they desire nothing more than good governance.

He also explained about the ‘Back to village’ program initiated by the government which made senior government officials travel to villages of Kashmir to understand and resolve the problems and issue blocking development to those areas. The program garnered huge support and officials were ready to spend two days to learn about the situation on the ground.

About 4,500 officers travelled to the villages and the feedback and information they brought back is useful to understand the needs and problems of the villages. This will help the government to deliver services more effectively.

The officials travelled to remote areas and even to border villages always at risk of cross border fighting.
