New Delhi: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) announced their candidates for the upcoming election to the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU). The nationalist student organization said that it would raise the issues of the incompetence of the left leaning organizations and strive to improve the academic environment of the campus.
The elections to the JNUSU will be held on 22nd March and the Presidential Debate will take place on 20th March. The time for withdrawal of the candidatures will end today.
ABVP in a press release said that it will contest for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary of JNUSU. Apart from President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, ABVP also announced the names for 42 councilor posts in the University. The election for these 42 councilor positions will be held in 16 schools and various special combined centers.
Candidatures for the Central Panel
President: Umesh Chandra Ajmeera
Umesh is a resident of Warangal, Telangana. He graduated from Nizam College, Hyderabad majoring in Political Science. He completed his Masters Degree and later was awarded an M.Phil from the School of International Studies, JNU. Currently, he is a research scholar at the School of International Studies, JNU.
Vice President: Deepika Sharma
Deepika is a resident of Bhiwani, Haryana. She graduated from Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi majoring in Life Sciences. She completed her Master’s Degree from School of Environmental Studies, JNU. Currently she is a research scholar at School of Environmental Studies, JNU.
Secretary: Arjun Anand
Arjun is a resident of Himachal Pradesh. He graduated from Government Degree College, Dharmshala majoring in Geography. He completed his Masters in Political Science from Punjab University and Masters in Philosophy from Central University of Himachal Pradesh. Currently he is a research scholar at Special Centre for North East Studies, JNU.
Joint Secretary: Govind Daangi
Govind is a resident of Madhya Pradesh. He obtained B.Sc. Agriculture from Allahabad Agricultural Institute. He completed his Masters Degree in International and Area Studies from JNU and later was awarded an M.Phil in American Studies from JNU. Currently, he is a research scholar at School of International Studies, JNU.
ABVP JNU’s Secretary said, “Akhil Bharatiya Vidhayrthi Parishad will work towards the improvement of infrastructure, safety of students, fair and strong representation, and providing low cost education in the University. We have spent every single day in the year with the students of JNU and stood with their rightful demands. We will strive to work for the same and will stay with the students of the University.”
