Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to extend accessibility, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has unveiled plans to initiate the sale of Bharat Rice and Bharat Atta at various railway stations nationwide. Mobile vans will be utilized for distribution, as announced by the Ministry of Public Distribution. Last month, Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated 100 mobile vans in Delhi, aiming to sell 5 kg and 10 kg packets of Bharat Rice provided by the Central government.
This initiative will undergo a trial period of three months, with sales scheduled every day for two hours in the evening. Notably, the Ministry of Public Distribution has prohibited the display of distribution videos. Bharat Rice will be available at Rs 29 per kg, while Bharat Atta will be priced at Rs 27.50 per kg.
