Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala, reeling under the scorching grip of summer, is set to receive a much-needed respite with the imminent arrival of summer rain, as forecasted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the IMD, Kerala may witness summer rains starting from tomorrow, bringing relief to the parched lands.
The IMD forecasts rain in 10 districts on the first day and 12 districts on the subsequent day. Tomorrow, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts are likely to experience rainfall. Following this, Kottayam and Alappuzha districts are anticipated to receive rain the day after.
While the onset of summer rains brings hope for relief, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam may experience minimal rainfall. The state continues to grapple with severe heatwave conditions. The IMD has issued a warning due to the soaring temperatures, announcing a yellow alert for several districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Kozhikode. Temperatures are expected to surge by two to four degrees Celsius above normal levels, emphasizing the urgency for precautionary measures amidst the changing weather patterns.
