Thiruvananthapuram: The NDA candidate, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, expressed his ambition to transform Thiruvananthapuram into a leading knowledge city within the next five years. He also said that a new education model will be implemented from the school level, aimed at acquiring both knowledge and skill development. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said this at a public discussion on the educational development potential of Thiruvananthapuram. He interacted with the students during the discussion which was presided over by former diplomat TP Sreenivasan.
According to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Thiruvananthapuram needs development through research, innovation and education. In the new era, the educational system that enables skill development along with knowledge is essential. For that, changes should start at the school level itself. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that 30 schools in the city will be converted into excellent Vidyalayas and gradually the same will be extended to schools in villages too.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that just like ‘Made in Japan’ is known in the field of technology, ‘Educated in Thiruvananthapuram’ should become a hallmark in the field of education and it can be achieved through concerted efforts. The cooperation of the industrial sector is also necessary in the field of education. Rajeev Chandrasekhar also pointed out that while the dimensions of skill are changing day by day, educational institutions can survive only if they work in collaboration with industrial institutions.
