Palakkad: After the announcement of Dr. TN Sarasu as the NDA candidate for the Alathur constituency, the Lok Sabha elections are now poised for a strong triangular contest. Dr. TN Sarasu, the former Principal of Government Victoria College in Pallakad, is known for her significant contributions to the college during her tenure.

Sitting MP and UDF candidate Ramya Haridas and Kerala state Devaswom Minister and LDF candidate K Radhakrishnan, have commenced campaigning in Alathur. Dr. TN Sarasu, who served diligently as the Principal of Government Victoria College in Pallakad, faced multiple threats from SFI leaders within the college due to her efforts to foster an educational environment. These threats stemmed from her efforts to create a meritorious academic atmosphere, which was opposed and disrupted by SFI leaders.

Several students and teachers have stated that TN Sarasu, who loved the college as her own home and cared for the students as her own children, worked tirelessly to maintain discipline on campus. It is due to this dedication that she garnered hatred from SFI members.

In March 2016, on the retirement day of the Principal, SFI leaders staged a symbolic burial of her at the campus. This incident was criticized by public in Kerala.

Throughout her 26-year teaching career, Dr. Sarasu dedicated each day to fostering academic excellence among her students. When asked about the incident, Dr. Sarasu remarked that the SFI had failed to uphold moral conduct to behave with both teachers and fellow students.

Following the incident, BJP leaders in Kerala had condemned the incident and questioned the silence of the CPI(M) ruling government. Later, in July 2019, Dr. TN Sarasu joined the BJP.
