Kannur: A woman from Kannur, who was trafficked to Oman under false job promises, has been rescued by the timely intervention of Union Minister V. Muraleedharan. P. P. Soly, a native of Ezhome Neruvambram in Kannur, safely returned home.
Soly was running a hotel in Bengaluru before being deceived into traveling to Oman under the false pretense of a receptionist job in a hospital. Instead, she was assigned domestic work. The woman got the job offer through PA Jamaluddin, a resident of Kadappuram, Kanhangad.
Soly arrived in Oman on December 23 last year. Subsequently, she was sold to an agent for 800 Riyals, who then hired her out for domestic work for 1500 Riyals. Realizing she had been cheated, she sought refuge in the Indian Embassy. Soly returned to her native land after the embassy expedited the process, following instructions from Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan.
