Kasaragod: In a retaliatory move, the government has taken action against Principal Dr. Rama, who brought to light the use of drugs by SFI leaders in the government college in Kasaragod. On the day of Dr. Rama’s retirement, a new departmental charge sheet was handed over to her. The charge sheet memo was prepared based on a fabricated complaint filed by the student body, seemingly aimed at halting Dr. Rama’s pension benefits. Earlier, a High Court Division Bench had stayed disciplinary proceedings, including the departmental charge sheet against Dr. Rama.
This incident is not an isolated one. Similar retaliatory action was taken against Ciza Thomas, who was in charge of Kerala Technical University. Ciza Thomas also received a departmental charge sheet on the day of her retirement.
The Save University Campaign committee has condemned the action against Dr. Rama, citing it as a clear example of the state government and the departmental ministers being influenced by SFI leaders. They argue that such actions will not only undermine academia but also lead to a breakdown of discipline in colleges.
